Route types describe how an international connection is organized, not a simple ranking. Understanding the access, transit, and exit segments makes it easier to choose a route suited to the task.

IEPL

IEPL Private Lines: Prioritize Persistent Connections

IEPL private lines typically place access and international transit on a more controlled path, reducing unpredictable detours across public networks. They suit longer sessions and tasks sensitive to connection changes, such as remote meetings, cloud document collaboration, extended streaming, and online tools that require a stable session. The goal is not to make every service respond identically, but to bring more structure to international transmission.

These routes require greater network resources, so operating costs are generally higher than those of ordinary direct connections. First confirm that the exit region fits the work requirement, then check the use-case label in the client. For brief visits to lightweight pages, a private line need not be the only choice; reserving it for sustained transfers is usually more efficient.

RELAY

Relay Routes: Balance Path and Destination

A relay route sends the connection to a suitable access point first, then forwards it through an intermediate node to the target exit. This can avoid weak direct interconnections and create a more suitable international path for each direction. For everyday browsing, AI tools, general work, and region-specific content, relay routes often balance coverage and resource use well.

More relays do not necessarily mean a better path. Effective relaying is about matching the access direction with the exit direction, not adding unnecessary steps. Start with a relay entry point near your access location, then place the exit in the target service region. If pages load but sessions drop easily, try another relay in the same region instead of switching immediately to a distant country.

When choosing a direct route, first test an exit relatively close to the target region and check page loading, session persistence, and file transfers.
